2017 Mini-Camps

Extended Camp activities are available before morning camps from 7:30-9am and after afternoon camp from 4-6pm for $3/hour. Registration for extended hours will take place in-person before camps begin. Email programs@ridgville.org with any questions. 

Intro to S.T.E.M. with LEGO®

Date/Time: June 12-16, 1-4pm

Age: 5-9yo

Location: Kamen Field House (Barton & South Blvd).

Fee: Res $150 / Non-Res $165

Tap into your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults, and Merry-Go-Rounds. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.

Chicagoing-Green Summer S.T.E.A.M. Camp

Date/Time: June 26-30, 1-4pm

Ages: 10-14yo

Location: Kamen Field House (Barton & South Blvd).

Fee: Res $125 / Non-Res $140

In this week-long summer S.T.E.A.M. program, campers will explore the pros and cons of using switchable, solar dependent glass in energy-efficient buildings. With the aid of computer-aided design software and laser cutters, campers will create original architectural models that incorporate this switchable glass into their designs. NOTE: Campers must obtain a free sample of Suntuitive glass for this camp. This can be ordered by visiting www.suntuitive.com. 

 Wizards' Camp

Date/Time: July 17-21, 1-4pm

Ages: 8-11yo

Location: Kamen Field House (Barton & South Blvd).

Fee: Res $110 / Non-Res $125

Want to brush up on your wand-making skills? In this camp, kids will dive into the world of magic and wizardry with exciting art projects, games, and activities such as potion-making, divination, spell casting, and broomball! If you’re a fan of the most famous boy-wizard on earth, you’ll love this camp! 

 

Renegade Writers' Camp

Date/Time: July 10-14, 1-4pm

Ages: 10-12

Location: Kamen Field House (Barton & South Blvd).

Fee: Res $110 / Non-Res $125

Do you ever wish your writing could break free from the confines of the classroom? This summer, send the five-paragraph essay packing, and rediscover the joy of writing in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Even if you don’t think of yourself as a writer, this camp will make it easy, with innovative techniques, games, and prompts to help you follow your imaginative and creative impulses. Find out what it means to do a word collage, spin a story spiral, or “lasso the moon.” Within five days, you’ll create a whole portfolio of stories, poems, and ideas. You’ve got something to say, and we want to hear it. Don't let summer slip away without leaving your mark! 

"Tutus & Tiaras" Ballet Camp

Date/Time: July 31-Aug 4, 9-11am

Ages: 3-4

Location: Community House, Ridgeville Park (908 Seward)

Fee: Res $110 / Non-Res $125

Description: All the things your tiny dancer loves about Miss Laura's Fairy Ballet and Boys Bop class is now being offered as a CAMP! Girls and boys (preschool age) will enjoy a creative movement/pre-ballet class, story, craft and snack during this one week mini camp! Children can wear dance attire or comfortable play clothes. Ballet shoes are not required but play shoes, dress up shoes and play slippers are not permitted for safety reasons. This is a drop-off camp but parents, families and friends are invited to a demonstration at 10:45 on the last day of the camp.

"I'm a Dancer!" Ballet/Jazz Combo Camp

Date/Time: July 31-Aug 4, 1-4pm

Ages: 5-8

Location: Community House, Ridgeville Park (908 Seward)

Fee: Res $125 / Non-Res $140

Description: This mini camp will include a ballet class, jazz class, craft and snack for boys and girls ages 5-8. Ballet class will focus on learning basic classical dance technique as well as creative movement. Jazz class will focus on rhythm, contemporary movement style that incorporates aspects of the ballet technique and choreography to popular well-loved music. All activities will promote positive self-esteem, body image, creative expression and healthy developmental movement patterns. Children can wear dance attire or comfortable play clothes. Ballet and/or jazz shoes are not required but play shoes, dress up shoes and play slippers are not permitted for safety reasons. This is a drop off camp but parents, families and friends are invited to a demonstration at 3:15 on the last day of the camp.
